Startup message – User Account Controls

Getting following message at startup. “User account controls..   Do you want to the following program to an unknown publisher to make changes to your computer” Best to recommend to customer to get used to seeing the screen and click allow. There are ways to eliminate it, but more significant problems when you do.

Here are the ways:

Option 1 Uncheck “Run as adminstrator” in both places (Note: doing this will make it so you cannot backup or restore databases) Rt click on Edge Shortcut | left click Properties Shortcut tab | advanced button | uncheck run as administrator Compatibility tab | Privilege level | uncheck run as administrator

Option 2 Control Panel | System and Security|Change user account control settings Set to Never Notify (Note: This will compromise your Windows Security for the entire computer and not recommended) NOTE: If you are doing a go-to-assist- and want to control the customer’s screen in Windows 7, you need to uncheck the 2 places in The EDGE shortcut where it says “Run as Administrator” . However, you need to change it back for them when done so they can properly back up their database.
