Root Element is Missing – v12

The error is an XmlException with an unfriendly message of “Root element is missing”

If you follow the stack trace down you will see LoadScenarioSummaryInfo:

The summary info is this

Summary info is ONLY created for scenarios that are checked out. The file is generated when you recalc the scenario.

Somehow this file got corrupted or truncated due to either a write failure or a sudden power failure etc… I have no idea.

Resolution:

Click on the scenario folder to get to the file system.

• Then, click the REFRESH BIDS button.
• Once you do all this, your scenario summary is derived from the DB, don’t worry if the summary info looks wrong at this point, we need to actually load the scenario and recalculate, once that occurs a new summary file will be created.
• To actually load from the job file and recalc you must get to the section area of the bid grid. At this point you can go back to the scenario bread crumb and the summary info is current.
